Four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon will make his iRacing debut in the NASCAR Pro Invitational Series at Talladega on Sunday.

Gordon won 93 races in a career which spanned 24 years, making the number 24 car famous for Hendrick Motorsports, which he drove for his whole Cup Series career.

He retired at the end of the 2015 season when he reached the final four to fight for the championship and finished third, but returned for part of the 2016 season to replace an injured Dale Earnhardt Jr, making that year’s Martinsville race his last in the series.

More recently Gordon has become a mainstay on Fox Sports TV commentary team.

The broadcaster linked-up with NASCAR to deliver the Pro Invitational Series, which was launched due to the coronavirus outbreak pausing real-life racing.

The championship includes most of the current real-life NASCAR field, including Earnhardt Jr.

William Byron, who currently drives the #24 car Gordon vacated, has won the last two rounds of the series.
