The Avintia Ducati squad has parted ways with the team member whose pass was revoked earlier this week by MotoGP organiser Dorna for forging a PCR test certificate.
First reported by The Race on Tuesday, the mechanic was accused of editing a test certificate in order to gain access to the Misano MotoGP paddock but was caught and suspended until the end of 2021 for the offence.
However, with the team already set to fold at the end of 2021 as it’s taken over by Valentino Rossi’s VR46 squad, it announced on Tuesday evening that thanks to the severity of the offence committed, it has immediately parted ways with the person involved.
“We are obliged to take specific disciplinary measures,” the team said in a statement released on its social media, “and close all relations with our team member who yesterday, thanks to the great work being undertaken by Dorna and IRTA, unsuccessfully falsified a PCR test to get access to the paddock of the Misano circuit for the next Grand Prix.”
MotoGP remains under tight COVID-19 controls, with every member of the series expected to submit a valid PCR test ahead of every race of 2021 regardless of vaccination status.
