Honda made headlines in Formula 1 at the end of the 1990s when it declared its intention to return in a full works capacity for the first time since 1992.

After talks with Jordan broke down, it set up a test team to run a car in early 1999. The tests were promising – too promising in the eyes of some – but just a couple of months later Honda halted the project and signed up to return with BAR instead.

In this video we look at everything that went on behind the scenes in great detail, and the impact Honda’s decision has had on F1 to this day.
