Podcast: What FIA’s technical directive on bouncing really means

Porpoising and bouncing have been the buzzwords of the 2022 F1 season, with the matter coming to a head after several drivers complained of experiencing unpleasant physical symptoms after the race in Baku.

That led to the FIA introducing a new technical directive on the matter ahead of the Canadian GP – but just what does it all mean, are the measures fair, and will they actually solve the problems several teams have experienced this season?

These are some of the questions that host Edd Straw and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson look to answer on this week’s edition of the F1 Tech Show.

After a weekend of mixed weather in Montreal, Anderson also dives into the topic of how teams set up their cars for wet weather, and why some cars are much better in soggy conditions than others.

He also answers a listener question on whether making changes to Pirelli’s 2022 tyres – rather than expensive car changes – could be the answer to the porpoising issues seen so far this season.
