Carlos Sainz and Ferrari’s tough start to the season is the focus of the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast.

With no Emilia Romagna Grand Prix to review, Scott Mitchell-Malm, Mark Hughes and Edd Straw take a close look at Sainz’s season to date. Although he has outscored team-mate Charles Leclerc, it has been a difficult start to the season.

But given Sainz’s difficulties reflect those of Ferrari, attention soon turns to how Ferrari headed into the season full of optimism but soon crashed down to earth once the performance deficit to Red Bull became clear.

With both Sainz and Leclerc out of contract at the end of 2024, we also consider the chances of Ferrari losing one or both of its current line-up.

And with Mercedes confirming it will press on with the major upgrade planned for Imola at Monaco, we discuss how big a challenge that will be and the impact of the delayed debut of F1’s blanketless wet tyres.
