We explain the reasons why Honda started off so poorly, and how the progress made in 2016 turned to dust the following season and led to the end of the McLaren partnership.
The decision to align with Red Bull by powering Toro Rosso in 2018 rather than pulling out of F1 is also delved into, as are the reasons why Honda was able to do a better job and go on to power Red Bull first to victories and then Verstappen to the title.
