Aston Martin’s bid to trigger a review of Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification from the Hungarian Grand Prix will be heard next Monday.
Aston Martin has committed to appealing Vettel’s disqualification from second place in last Sunday’s race but it has petitioned for a right to review as well.
He was disqualified after Aston Martin failed to provide a sufficient fuel sample using the correct procedure.
The review process exists separately to the appeal process. It can be used to re-open a case if the competitor can provide sufficient evidence.
Aston Martin said it “has requested a right of review alongside the appeal procedure, as a result of having discovered significant new evidence relevant to the sanction which was unavailable to it at the time of the FIA stewards’ decision”.
The FIA stewards have now summoned Aston Martin to a virtual meeting that will take place 3pm CEST on Monday August 9.
If the stewards accept Aston Martin’s new evidence they will then arrange a further hearing to review the case itself.
