Recent Formula 1 departure Kevin Magnussen will team up with his father Jan in an LMP2 entry at the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The younger Magnussen has switched to sportscar racing this year after losing his Haas F1 seat, and is contesting the IMSA Sportscar Championship in America with Ganassi.
He has also secured a place in the line-up for Peugeot’s Le Mans return in 2023.
But he will get his first taste of the legendary race in an LMP2 car this year with Danish team High Class Racing, paired with his father – a fellow ex-F1 racer – and team regular Anders Fjordbach.
Jan Magnussen, now aged 47, also focused primarily on sportscars after his brief F1 career ended in 1998, and took four class wins at Le Mans during his time as part of Corvette’s works GT programme.
Kevin described teaming up with his father for Le Mans as “something we’ve tried to do for years and truly a dream come true”.
