Own one of Ayrton Senna's actual F1 helmets from 1992

Williams produced a car capable of dominating the 1992 Formula 1 season, but McLaren's Ayrton Senna was able to keep things interesting with a number of against-the-odds victories.

It's one of Senna's actual 1992 helmets, used during the British, German and Hungarian Grands Prix, that is among the standout lots in the new BUDDS' Motorsport Icons Auction taking place just after the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Museum on July 7.

Senna won the Hungarian GP using that helmet, one of his three victories that season, an impressive feat given the might of the Nigel Mansell-Williams machine that season.

That season was the last for the famous multi-championship-winning McLaren-Honda partnership of the 1980s and early-1990s.

This was the helmet Senna used in Germany when he shared an F1 podium with Mansell and Michael Schumacher for the first and only time ever.

The helmet shows signs of race used including marks from stone chippings with distinctive wear and markings that have been matched to corresponding period race imagery.

The interior of the helmet even retains the production identification label marked: Production No A / MAR 1992 / Inspector: H Takayama. The helmet also bears its original Snell SA90 label with serial number: SA 0025979.

And the helmet is accompanied by an official McLaren Certificate of Authenticity, so you know this isn't just a replica; it's the real thing.

The auction will include a number of rare and highly sought-after collectables, racewear, car parts, race-used helmets, and exclusive memorabilia from legendary motorsport icons like Senna and Nigel Mansell.
