The Isle of Man TT organiser has confirmed that road racer Mark Purslow has died following a crash in Wednesday’s fourth qualifying session.

The incident happened at Ballagarey, four miles into the 37.73-mile course, on the Supersport rider’s third lap of the evening session. It brought out red flags and resulted in the rest of the session to be abandoned.

Purslow made his first appearance on the TT Mountain Course at the 2015 Manx Grand Prix, winning the Lightweight Race on his debut. He graduated to the Isle of Man TT Races in 2017, competing in the Supersport and Lightweight classes. The 2022 edition was Purslow’s second TT.

He was also an experienced classic racer, competing at the Classic TT in 2016, 2018, and 2019, with a best result of 14th in the 2019 Junior Classic TT.

The 29-year-old had set his fastest ever lap of the TT Mountain Course at 120.86mph earlier in the session, his first lap in excess of 120mph.

The Race joins the wider racing fraternity in sending its deepest condolences to Mark’s family, friends and team at this time.
