Francesco Bagnaia completed a Ducati clean sweep of Friday MotoGP practice for the Dutch TT at Assen.

Key moments:

> Bagnaia leads Espargaro

> Quartararo up in third

> Another crash for Bezzecchi

Like in FP1, the track was again wet (though less so) to start the session – but with no rain falling down, VR46 Ducati rider Luca Marini was able to head out on slicks around the halfway point of the 45-minute running time and be on pace right away, soon going quickest.

And by the time the chequered flag flew, everyone had naturally improved considerably, with Bagnaia going 0.178s quicker than Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro at the chequered flag to claim FP2 honours.

Championship leader Fabio Quartararo was another tneth down in third, ahead of Suzuki’s Alex Rins – fresh off having to sit out the Sachsenring race due to his wrist injury.

FP1 pace-setter Jack Miller was fifth, while KTM and Honda were spearheaded by Brad Binder in eighth and LCR rider Takaaki Nakagami in 12th respectively.

Rookie Marco Bezzecchi fell – in his second crash of Friday – at the hairpin-like Strubben corner in the final minutes right after setting the fastest time, and ended up down in 10th.

Among those who are currently on course to miss out on an automatic Q2 spot are Gresini Ducati’s Enea Bastianini and Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin – but they are expected to get another shot at it in FP3, for which dry conditions are anticipated.
