Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia went fastest in the third MotoGP practice session at the Red Bull Ring as Styrian Grand Prix race winner Jorge Martin crashed out and will have to take part in Q1.
Factory man Bagnaia set a time just 0.047s shy of Pramac Ducati stablemate Johann Zarco’s FP1 lap record breaking time of 1m22.827s – which still stood as the fastest from the combined practice sessions.
Winner from pole at the Red Bull Ring just a week ago, Martin crashed out in the final moments of FP3 at Turn 10 on his fast run, and will be forced to take part in Q1 having only set the 13th fastest time in the combined standings.

Championship leader Fabio Quartararo was quickest for the majority of the session, but was pipped to the fastest time of the morning by Bagnaia in the closing stages. Friday record-breaking pacesetter Zarco rounded off the top three.
Enea Bastianini crashed at Turn 1, 10 minutes into the session, but managed to get his Esponsorama Ducati going again and wound up 18th.
Alongside Martin, riders taking part in Q1 will be Cal Crutchlow, Danilo Petrucci, Bastianini, Iker Lecuona, Alex Marquez, Valentino Rossi, Miguel Oliveira, Luca Marini and Alex Rins.
