Marquez-Red Bull deal ends - but he won't switch to rival Monster

New Ducati MotoGP rider Marc Marquez will pause his long-time personal association with Red Bull when he moves to the factory team for 2025.

But Marquez will not become an ambassador of rival energy drinks firm Monster Energy, despite its sponsorship deal with Ducati.

The question of what would happen to Marquez's extensive personal sponsorship deals when he moved to Ducati has been a hot topic since the deal was announced in June, with many of the brands who have been with him for much of his career in direct competition with existing sponsors of the team.

The team's title sponsor Lenovo competes against Samsung, Ducati's sunglasses deal is with Italian brand Carrera not Oakley, and insurance company Unipol clashes with Marquez's long-term partners Allianz.

But the potential conflict between Red Bull and Monster has been the most prominent, given the space that energy drinks deals traditionally command on a rider's helmet.

But while Marquez will not be allowed to maintain his deal with Red Bull in 2025, those are ties he sounds keen to renew to in the future, should circumstances change with either Monster or his own deal with Ducati.

"It is my last event with them," explained Marquez during Austrian TV channel Servus's 'Sport & Talk aus dem Hangar 7' end of season gala.

Red Bull owns both Servus and the Hangar 7 museum in Salzburg.

"Ducati has another sponsor, so we cannot continue. Out of respect for Red Bull, I will not have a personal sponsor in this respect.

"I want to thank the Red Bull family, and I hope we continue to be friends."
