Romain Grosjean’s dream move to top IndyCar outfit Andretti Autosport is over, which begs the question: how did it all go so wrong?
That’s what our latest YouTube video sets out to investigate, with Grosjean now pursuing action against the team as he had “expected to continue racing” for Andretti in 2023 and is “disappointed that is not being fulfilled”.
From Grosjean’s ‘phoenix’ story, finding a home in IndyCar for 2021 after his fiery Formula 1 crash in Bahrain, to scoring poles for minnow Dale Coyne, and then struggling to adapt to Andretti’s more understeer-prone car, it’s been a tough journey.
That's not to say there weren't Andretti peaks - even this year, Grosjean should have been leading the points after four rounds - but setbacks during that time and more through 2023 eroded his relationship with the team, with that theme and what ultimately led to it choosing a different path for the future also explored.
