IndyCar’s rookie of the year Christian Lundgaard joins this week’s The Race IndyCar Podcast to discuss his rollercoaster season in which he beat fellow star newcomer David Malukas.

Lundgaard reckons no other driver could have extracted more from his Rahal car at the start of the year and he discusses the journey the team has undertaken to find competitiveness in the second half of the season after a rocky start to the year, with a second at the Indy road course being his top result.

The team’s anticipated development next season, which will be overseen by ex-McLaren F1 engineer Stefano Sordo, is also a big topic of conversation as Lundgaard outlines whether he thinks the team can return to fight for wins in 2023.

Having come from a European-based single-seater background, Lundgaard also broaches the tricky topic of junior racing in Europe and America, and the super licence points on offer which haven’t allowed Colton Herta to make an F1 switch.

He also discusses settling into American life while holidaying back home with friends in Denmark.
