Podcast: Is IndyCar’s latest winner now part of its elite?

A wet qualifying made for a jumbled order, but even in the dry the Toronto IndyCar street race provided plenty of talking points – including a maiden win for Christian Lundgaard – for this week’s The Race IndyCar Podcast.

Is Lundgaard now an elite driver? And how much will the momentum from this win impact his peaky Rahal Letterman Lanigan team? Those are two questions expertly answered by Indy Lights champion, Indianapolis 500 regular, and podcast co-host JR Hildebrand.

There’s a slight diversion from Alex Palou’s 15th-to-second drive through the field via silly season and how he’s the cork in the driver market bottle, plus there’s an update on how Tom Blomqvist faired on his maiden IndyCar weekend thrown in at the deep end in place of Simon Pagenaud.

There’s also a preview of this weekend’s Iowa double-header, where the pressure is lumped on the race’s most successful driver in recent years, Josef Newgarden, and how he might use it to erode Palou’s advantage at a place Palou has admitted has been tough for him in the past.

Don’t forget, if you have a question for our hosting team, you can email, text and/or submit voice notes to be included on the podcast by sending them to podcasts@the-race.com.
