Following his oval test debut last week and amid strong silly season rumours about his future, series rookie Romain Grosjean joins The Race IndyCar Podcast this week.

Dale Coyne Racing driver Grosjean has emerged as the most coveted star on the free agent market for 2022 after the strong start to his IndyCar career, and he gave The Race the inside track on all of the intricacies of thinking behind his decision-making for next year.

Committing to a full schedule is not a decision he’s made yet as he continues to discuss if doing ovals and moving to the States full-time works with his family, and he also said it was “incredible” to be targeted by the big teams in IndyCar but he hasn’t ruled out sticking with Coyne. He does want to feel he is in a championship winning car as part of his 2022 deal.

He talks about his dizzying oval test and just how different it is to what he’s done before, including the physical toll it took – which included driving with a wonky steering wheel and defying his engineer over interior padding, which he then put back.

Grosjean also talks about his latest US road trip with his family in his RV – christened Raoul – addresses this weekend’s new-to-IndyCar Nashville race, and talks about where he and Coyne can improve across the second part of the season in which he’ll contest his longest run of races with six.
