Felipe Nasr will race alongside Max Chilton for Carlin at this weekend’s IndyCar season opener in St Petersburg.
Nasr tested for Carlin over the winter, receiving late call ups to drive at both Austin and Sebring – where he set the pace on his first day of running.
“I’m very pleased to be joining Carlin for my first ever weekend in an Indy car in St Petersburg this weekend,” said the former Formula 1 driver who is yet to race in IndyCar.
“It’s nice to see that all the work we’ve put into this program together has finally paid off.
“I’m thankful for Trevor Carlin for giving me the opportunity to drive the #31 Carlin Chevrolet this weekend and to Chevy for supporting this programme.
“I’m very keen to contribute to the team with my experience and my knowledge and to hopefully show that the speed we had at Sebring a few days ago will translate onto the streets of St Petersburg.
“I know the team has been working really hard over the offseason and I’m very excited to get out on track first thing on Friday morning.”
Nasr, a veteran of 39 grand prix starts with Sauber, spent much of his junior career racing for Carlin, clinching the 2011 British Formula 3 title with the team, before going on to become a GP2 title contender with it.
Chilton will share the team’s second entry this year with Conor Daly.
