Charlie Kimball will make his full-time return to the IndyCar series in 2020 racing for AJ Foyt Enterprises.
The British-born American has raced for Carlin since leaving Chip Ganassi Racing at the end of 2017, but after racing a full campaign in 2018, Kimball made only sporadic appearances last season.
“I’m excited and honored to join AJ Foyt Racing and be a part of a team that has such deep roots in history at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar,” said Kimball.
“I’m more motivated than ever to work with the team to succeed at every IndyCar race in 2020.”
Kimball, a one-time winner with a further five podiums to his name, brings a wealth of experience to AJ Foyt Racing – a team undergoing something of an overhaul ahead of the 2020 season.
The 10-year veteran joins the team alongside renowned engineers Mike Colliver and Mike Pawlowski as the team looks to return to the winners circle for the first time since 2013.
“Charlie brings a great deal of experience and skill to the team,” said team president Larry Foyt.
“He is motivated to show what he can do behind the wheel, and his recent experience of helping develop cars will be beneficial as we work to get the 4 car moving up the grid.”
