The two drivers who between them have won the last three IndyCar races – Josef Newgarden and Christian Lundgaard – are both guests on this week’s episode of The Race IndyCar Podcast.
Newgarden, who completed a clean sweep of the Iowa double-header the weekend before last, joins to talk about that weekend, his record of eight wins from the last 10 oval races, and joining an exclusive club of three drivers to win five-straight oval events.
The Penske driver had listened to our Iowa preview episode and agrees with podcast co-host JR Hildebrand’s breakdown of why he is so good at Iowa, but here Newgarden gives us a little bit more detail – while keeping some secrets to himself…
He also discusses how tough in-season development is in IndyCar and how likely a title fight is with Alex Palou given the 80-point gap.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s Lundgaard tells us about the Eiffel Tower of Lego he has built, but also, on a more serious note, some of the racing questions you’re likely to have for him.
His thoughts on his first-ever IndyCar race win in Toronto, how it’s impacted what people think about him as a driver, and what it means for the second half of the season are all answered.
Don’t forget, if you have a question for our hosting team, you can email, text and/or submit voice notes to be included on the podcast by sending them to podcasts@the-race.com.
