The newest content update for iRacing has just been released, with new cars, tracks and various improvements all included in the 2021 Season 1 update.

One of the biggest additions is the all new Dallara iR-01, a single-seater created in a collaboration between Dallara and iRacing.

The car is intended to be a throwback to previous generations of open-wheel racing cars, as it is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre V10 engine producing 900 horsepower and weighs only 600kg.

It has no driver aids and has been designed so that it will be easy to follow other drivers to ensure close racing.

There will be a world championship run with the new car sometime in 2021.

That would be the first major open-wheel series run on iRacing since the World Championship Grand Prix Series was turned into the Porsche Esports Supercup in 2019.

Also included in the update are two classes of Dirt Modified cars and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO.

Long Beach (pictured above) and Cedar Lake Speedway make their debuts along with rallycross variations of Brands Hatch and Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The new damage model has also been given some improvements and implemented onto the Dallara IR18 IndyCar.

Other additions include the aero cushion effect when driving stock cars close against barriers – the practice known as ‘rim riding’ in real-world NASCAR – as well as a 3D car viewer.

On top of that are numerous AI improvements and tyre updates for numerous cars.
