A second season of the Ferrari Esports Series will begin in April, with the main prize remaining a place in the Ferrari Driver Academy Esports Team.

Last year 21-year-old Italian Giovanni De Salvo (pictured below) won, and he has now joined past F1 Esports champions David Tonizza and Brendon Leigh in Ferrari’s esports line-up.

Again the series will be run on Assetto Corsa with four different Ferrari cars used in the competition, including the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo and the brand new Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo – which will be exclusively available to those who take part in the competition.

Each month from April to July there will be an online hotlap competition, with the fastest 24 drivers from each progressing through to one of the four qualifying races. The top 12 in each of those races will make it through to the main competition.

The 48 racers who reach the final will be split into two groups of 24 and the top 12 in the championship standings for each group will contest the grand final where the winner earns a place in Ferrari’s esports team.

Currently the grand final is scheduled for mid-December and will feature three points scoring races similar to the first season.

Once again the competition is only open to European residents aged 18 or over, with plans for the event to be opened up to global participants in the future.

In addition to the place in the Ferrari team for the overall winner, registered players will be able to win various prizes throughout the season.

There is also a livery designing competition where anyone can design and submit liveries before a public vote determines which livery will be used on the cars in the main series races.

Registrations will be open from 8pm UK time today on the Ferrari Esports Series website.
