Japanese Super GT Championship racer and Toyota Gazoo Racing development driver Miki Koyama will drive for Lola in the all-female Formula E test session at Valencia next month.

Koyama was last seen in European racing in 2021 when she took part in eight W Series races, claiming a best result of fifth at the opening Red Bull Ring event.

Since then, she has raced in a variety of Japanese series including Super GT, Super Taikyu, Super Formula Lights, Japanese Formula 4 and Formula Regional Japanese Championship - the latter of which she was crowned champion in in 2022.

Latterly she has been part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver development programme, and she recently made her debut in the Toyota GR Cup North America series.

Toyota and Yamaha have a long-standing relationship that includes technical partnerships and joint projects in the automotive industry. Toyota also owns a 3.8% stake in Yamaha Motor Corporation.

Kiro will run Porsche powertrains this coming season and is also expected to test Porsche Formula E reserve and development driver David Beckmann, who will run during the three days of Valencia testing alongside incumbent driver Dan Ticktum.

The Race understands that Lola ABT Yamaha had spoken at length to current Super Formula driver Juju Noda over a test outing - but logistical difficulties in Noda being able to return to Suzuka in time for the Super Formula finale the weekend after the Valencia trip were a factor in that deal not happening.
