Nissan driver Sacha Fenestraz is the special guest on the latest edition of The Race Formula E Podcast, which reviews a spectacular Rome weekend that featured several twists in what had hitherto been a close 2023 title battle.
Though four drivers remain in mathematical contention with just the season finale in London to come, Jake Dennis emerged from the Rome double-header as the clear favourite for the crown thanks to a supreme second win of the season – and the elimination of rivals Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy in a costly crash.
That was the only big impact of the weekend, and the catastrophic accident triggered by Sam Bird losing control of his Jaguar and the near-misses that ensued – in particular for Bird, Antonio Felix da Costa, and Edoardo Mortara – are also discussed.
The knock-on effect of that shunt also included some remarkable stories on how new monocoques were allocated throughout the paddock.
Fenestraz has been a key part of Nissan’s upturn in form in 2023 and he outlines his pride in the manufacturer achieving its best result in almost two years – a second-place finish for team-mate Norman Nato – while also mulling over a promising yet ultimately difficult weekend on his side of the garage, with an excellent Saturday qualifying essentially counting for nothing come the race.
