Who is driving when? F1 test day three driver line-up

5 min read

Formula 1's 2025 season kicks off with three days of testing in Bahrain - but who is driving when?

These three days are the only time all 10 teams will share a track before the 24-race campaign gets under way in Australia on March 16.

With so many drivers switching places and a bumper crop of rookies, there will be plenty to watch across the three days.

Each team can only run one car so drivers have to split driving duties across the three days.

Below you'll find a list of a team by team list of what's planned, with the full driver line-up for the day's session at the bottom of the page.

McLaren

Wednesday: Piastri (AM), Norris (PM)
Thursday: Piastri (AM), Norris (PM)
Friday: Norris (AM), Piastri (PM)

McLaren was first to run a 2025 F1 car with a shakedown at Silverstone in a temporary livery almost two weeks before pre-season testing began.

The reigning constructors' champion is giving Oscar Piastri the first morning in Bahrain before Lando Norris takes over in the afternoon, a pattern that repeats on Thursday then inverts on Friday.

Ferrari

Thursday: Hamilton (AM), Leclerc (PM)
Friday: Leclerc (AM), Hamilton (PM)

Lewis Hamilton will start Ferrari's test behind the wheel of the SF-25 before handing over to Charles Leclerc for the second half of Wednesday - a plan it repeats on Thursday.

Charles Leclerc will kick off the final day of running at the wheel before Hamilton ends Ferrari's test on.

Red Bull

The Mercedes W16 will have completed its first shakedown in Bahrain on Tuesday, one day prior to the test.

Aston Martin

Wednesday: Alonso (AM), Stroll (PM)
Thursday: Alonso (AM), Stroll (PM)
Friday: Alonso (AM), Stroll (PM)

Fernando Alonso will be behind the wheel of the AMR25 before handing the car over to Lance Stroll for the second half on the first two days.

The initial plan was for the roles to swap on Friday, but Alonso was back in the car for the morning session due to Stroll being unwell. Stroll will return for the second session.

Alpine

Wednesday: Doohan (AM), Gasly (PM)
Thursday: Gasly (AM), Doohan (PM)
Friday: Doohan (AM), Gasly (PM)

Alpine rookie Jack Doohan will be behind the wheel of the new A525 first in Bahrain before handing over to Pierre Gasly ahead of his third season with the team.

They'll continue to share driving duties across Thursday and Friday with Gasly finishing the test.

Haas

Wednesday: Bearman (AM), Ocon (PM)
Thursday: Ocon (AM), Bearman (PM)

Ocon completed all of the running during the VF-25's shakedown at Silverstone on February 16.
