The inaugural The Race Fan Census has delivered fascinating results around fans’ opinions of Formula 1 drivers and teams.

Earlier this year, over 2300 respondents answered questions including who their favourite drivers, teams and team principals were as well as who is the most underrated driver in F1.

Those respondents represented 103 countries with the top 10 countries (led by the UK, United States, Australia, India and Canada) representing three in every four answers.

Below you'll find a summary of some of the most interesting results:

McLaren driver Lando Norris came out on top when respondents were asked who their favourite F1 drivers were - they could pick up to three.

15% of respondents picked the one-time grand prix winner with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc coming out in second place with 11%.

Behind them, things were very close for third place. 10% picked Oscar Piastri - who was first among Australian respondents - and that was enough to beat Aston Martin's two-time champion Fernando Alonso by a single vote.

Although second among the UK respondents (a country that represented 29% of respondents) in the survey, Lewis Hamilton came fifth worldwide with Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz sixth, just two votes behind Hamilton.

Reigning three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen came out on top amongst Dutch voters (with 26% of all Dutch votes) but was seventh worldwide with 8%, while Alex Albon, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo completed the top 10.

Not only did McLaren have the first and third most popular drivers but it also emerged on top when respondents were asked who their favourite teams were - once again they could pick up to three.

McLaren picked up 28% of votes and was the most popular team in each of the main countries surveyed, beating Ferrari which received 23%.

Williams (14%) beat Red Bull (10%) and Mercedes (10%) to third spot.

Aston Martin was voted sixth most popular ahead of RB, Haas, Sauber and Alpine.

The question of 'who is your favourite team principal' produced a clear winner in the shape of Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur.

Vasseur received 36% of all votes while Williams chief James Vowles claimed second place with 17%.  Rounding out the top three was McLaren boss Andrea Stella.

The fourth most popular team boss according to our survey is Mercedes boss Toto Wolff who beat his Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner by 11 votes.

Ayao Komatsu (Haas) and Mike Krack (Aston Martin) each received 1% of votes.

The other three team principals all received fewer than 1% of the votes.

Most underrated F1 driver

Respondents were also asked who they thought was the most underrated driver on the F1 grid.

RB's Tsunoda proved to be the most popular answer on 19% of votes with Alex Albon and Nico Hulkenberg completing the top three.

Sainz emerged fourth ahead of Piastri, Valtteri Bottas, Pierre Gasly, George Russell, Esteban Ocon and Norris.
