Formula 1’s revelation that its second Bahrain race will take place on a layout that produces a sub-one-minute lap means a 46-year-old record is likely to fall in 2020.
Niki Lauda’s Dijon pole position time in 1974 is the only sub-minute lap in F1 history, but Bahrain’s Outer circuit is expected to result in qualifying efforts of around 55 seconds.
