Red Bull is in a race against time to work out its plans for life after engine supplier Honda leaves F1 at the end of 2021.
Its preferred option is to take over Honda’s engine project and keep it going rather than become a Renault customer again, but to do that it believes an engine freeze is required starting from 2022.
However, F1’s other power unit manufacturers Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault would all need to be appeased or reach some form of compromise in order for this to become a reality.
