Red Bull has unveiled its new esports training facility based within the Red Bull Racing technology campus in Milton Keynes.
It joins other F1 teams, including Williams and Mercedes, in having an on-site esports facility.
Red Bull’s drivers will train and in some cases compete from there with separate training and competition areas, each of which feature F1 Esports-specification Playseat rigs and Fanatec wheels.
Also in the training area is a 9×9 video wall which displays data from the drivers, allowing the team manager and drivers to better understand where and how they need to improve.
Finally, there’s also the console area, which is designed to be a zone where the drivers can relax and not focus on serious competition.
A competition to name the facility was put to a fan vote with over 4000 entries submitted and prizes on offer for those who put forward the best name.
Red Bull’s initiative is the latest move by an F1 team to dedicate more resources to their in-house esports operation.
Williams has been committed to having players represent it across a wide range of games and has its own ‘Esports Lounge’ with F1 Esports-specification equipment.
Meanwhile, Ferrari, who joined the F1 Esports Series one year later than the other teams, ran its own talent-spotting esports competition for the first time this year and has integrated esports into the Ferrari Driver Academy.
