1 min read

After the fifth day of Formula 1 pre-season testing, we have a stab at judging the rough shape of the form book in the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast.

Mark Hughes and Scott Mitchell join Edd Straw to delve into the relative pace of Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari – as well as the reason for Kevin Magnussen cropping up on the top of the timesheets on his F1 comeback.

We run through the big stories of the day, including where the porpoising problems stand and the impact that the problem could have on the relative performance in qualifying and the race.

The fiery problem that befell Williams, the “crispy” brakes of McLaren and Alpine’s progress are also discussed – while we also revisit the legality of the Mercedes sidepods after Christian Horner gave his official comment on the situation following Thursday’s confusion.
