Romain Grosjean joins The Race IndyCar Podcast this week ahead of his return to the championship at Indianapolis this weekend.
After two races in America, Grosjean confirmed to the podcast that “if you ask me right now what I think, I think that I’m going to stay” in IndyCar beyond his one-year deal.
He outlines in detail how he’s changed his driving style and training to adapt from Formula 1 to IndyCar, the standard of the opposition and if any of them deserve a Formula 1 chance, and his love of racing with lower fuel loads and more durable tyres in the States compared to F1.
The Honda Performance Development simulator has also played a key role and Grosjean says the Barber set-up he used to score a brilliant seventh-place in qualifying for his first IndyCar race was “100%” formed from the simulator.
Grosjean also discusses the emergence of his all-conquering esports team, and the “class” shown by Mercedes to give him a one-off Formula 1 test later this year.
