Former Jordan and Jaguar technical director Gary Anderson answers your questions in the latest episode of The Race F1 Podcast, including explaining how a team the size of Ferrari had windtunnel/CFD-to-track correlation problems that made life difficult for it in 2020.

Anderson joins Edd Straw to answer 22 questions put to him by listeners on a wide range of topics, which also includes which of the many drivers who have changed teams this year will be the most successful, the argument for an aeroscreen style of cockpit protection and Wililams’s decision to use Mercedes gearboxes and hydraulics from next year.

He also delves into a number of technical matters, including the impact of next year’s 18-inch wheelrims on car design, the secrets of F1 car differential settings and what he expects F1’s long-term future will be in terms of engine technology.

Questions about the past also crop up, so Gary looks back at Colin McRae’s run in a Jordan 196 back in 1996, explains which cars he was involved in the design of he feels could have won more races and explains why sideways driving is a thing of the past in F1.

The Race F1 Podcast is released at least once a week and available free to subscribe to from all good podcast suppliers, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
