Gary Anderson looks back on his time working with Alex Zanardi both at Jordan in Formula 1 and Reynard in CART as he answers listener questions in the latest edition of his podcast.
Zanardi, who is currently in hospital after suffering head and eye injuries in a handbike accident in Italy on Friday, made his F1 debut for Jordan in 1991 when Anderson was technical director.
As well as being asked about his experiences running Zanardi, Anderson is also asked whether a switch to a single tyre compound in F1 might improve the racing and what aspect of the COVID-19 protocols teams should be most worried about.
He looks back at Jordan’s 1999 season and what contribution, if any, he made to the car having left the team in the middle of the previous year, and reveals the secrets of what makes a fast driver.
Eddie Irvine’s strengths are also are discussed, as are those of former Williams technical director Sam Michael – who worked with Anderson at Jordan.
