Mercedes has revealed its revised livery for the Formula 1 season finale that pays tribute to every member of staff and the unprecedented achievement of seven title doubles.
The three-pointed star detail on the engine cover on Mercedes’ F1 cars has featured a red star in memory of Niki Lauda since the three-time world champion and team director passed away prior to the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.
It has remained with Mercedes’ switch to a mostly black anti-racism livery for 2020.
For the Abu Dhabi GP, the engine cover design has been changed to feature the names of every employee at Mercedes’ Brackley and Brixworth car and engine divisions.
Seven cyan stars have also been added in recognition of Mercedes’ seventh drivers’ and constructors’ championship successes this season.
Team principal Toto Wolff had teased the livery pre-weekend as a “very special surprise” for team members.
He said it was in honour of “the huge commitment and determination from everybody in Brixworth and Brackley”.

“Everyone has pushed hard this year, raising the bar through this massively intense season, and we hope this gesture goes some way in showing the appreciation we have for everyone involved,” said Wolff.
Mercedes has won 13 of the 16 grands prix this season with Lewis Hamilton winning the drivers’ championship again.
Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have scored 23 podiums between them.
