F1 2024 Italian Grand Prix starting grid after Piastri decision

The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will start Formula 1's 2024 Italian Grand Prix from the front row.

Piastri kept his second place on the grid after the stewards awarded McLaren with a €10,000 fine for a blatant unsafe release into the path of Max Verstappen's Red Bull during Q1 at Monza.

It's become the norm for unsafe releases in qualifying to result in fines for the team rather than the driver given it's the team's responsibility to release their cars safely from the pits.

Norris and Piastri have given McLaren a first front row lock-out at Monza since 2012, when Lewis Hamilton headed Jenson Button.

They'll start ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the two Ferraris, led by Charles Leclerc.

A 2025 Ferrari driver, Lewis Hamilton, will start from sixth place ahead of the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Red Bull suffered a miserable Saturday at Monza and if the McLarens and Red Bulls finish on Sunday where they start, the constructors' championship lead will pass to McLaren.

Completing the top 10 on the grid is the Williams of Alex Albon and the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg.

Williams's new driver Franco Colapinto is currently set to start his maiden F1 grand prix from 18th on the grid.

Below you'll find the latest starting grid, pending any last-minute changes:
