The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has extended its partnership with Austrian water tech company BWT, which will “remain a feature of the livery” of its 2021 F1 car.

BWT was a major partner of the Silverstone-based team during its final years as Force India and interim period as Racing Point, and was the reason for the team’s predominantly pink liveries.

With Racing Point becoming Aston Martin and set to switch to a green livery, however, it was anticipated that the BWT partnership wouldn’t continue – and the company was indeed absent from Aston’s initial rebranding.

Aston unveiled IT company Cognizant as its new title sponsor, while BWT was linked with potential sponsorship deals with its F1 rivals Haas or Williams.

However, Aston Martin announced on Wednesday that BWT would remain part of the fold, and that while its car would have “an all-new base colour”, it would retain “subtle BWT brand accents”.

“Our friends at BWT have been loyal supporters of this team and I am delighted they have chosen to be a partner of Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 Team,” said team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

” BWT will support our efforts to become more sustainable in all areas of the business, but especially in our trackside operations – a goal that marries up with Formula 1’s own sustainability objectives.

“This is a strong and historic partnership entering an important new era, and we are all excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Aston Martin will unveil its 2021 F1 car a week from now, on March 3. It has signed four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel to partner Lance Stroll for 2021.
