Former Aston Martin sponsor BWT – which was responsible for the pink Force India/Racing Point liveries – will become the Alpine Formula 1 team’s title backer from 2022.

The water treatment company’s “renowned pink colour” will be “incorporated into Alpine’s famous blue livery” said a statement from what will now be known as BWT Alpine F1 Team.

Alpine will launch its 2022 F1 car, to be raced by Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon once again, on Monday February 21 ahead of the start of pre-season testing.

The announcement called the BWT/Alpine tie-up a “strategic, long-term partnership” in which the two organisations will “work together to spread the message of sustainability around the world utilising the combined global platforms of Formula 1 and the automotive industry”.

BWT became what was then Force India’s lead backer ahead of the 2017 F1 season and stayed with the team through its transitions into Racing Point and then Aston Martin, though its presence in the Aston livery was considerably smaller as Cognizant became its title sponsor.

Aston Martin has now secured Aramco as an additional title backer, and revealed its new livery and 2022 car on Thursday.

BWT’s motorsport sponsorship programme has also extended beyond F1 into substantial presence in categories including the F1 feeder ladder and GT racing.
