Bring Back V10s podcast: How Hill nearly won for Arrows

1 min read

Damon Hill’s famous drive in the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix is the focus of the latest episode of our Bring Back V10s Formula 1 podcast.

Episode four of the new series focuses on all of the stories around that weekend, where Hill came agonisingly close to taking a shock victory for Arrows.

Host Glenn Freeman is joined by Matt Beer and Edd Straw to look at the factors that led to Hill and Arrows being so competitive, including how other teams dropped the ball and the influence of the ’97 tyre war on the action.

They also look at all the other big storylines in F1 at the time, from the surprising Ferrari v Williams championship battle, to Jan Magnussen’s disappointing F1 career, Michael Schumacher’s test for Sauber, and what happened when Hill entered talks with five teams for 1998.
