Aston Martin’s CEO Andy Cowell will be the Formula 1 squad’s new team principal as the result of a major management reshuffle.

Just three months after Cowell joined the Silverstone-based operation in October 2024, and following an evaluation process about the outfit’s strengths and weaknesses, he has decided to revamp the way things are run.

As part of what it claims is a ‘flatter’ structure, Cowell will now have the dual role of both CEO and team principal with immediate effect.

Mike Krack, who had been team boss since the start of 2022, will move into the new position of chief trackside officer – with his focus being on performance at each grand prix.

There have been changes back at the factory too as the outfit prepares for the arrival of Adrian Newey on March 3 this year.

Its factory technical operations will be spearheaded by new chief technical officer Enrico Cardile, who will be arriving at the squad from Ferrari once his period of gardening leave is over.

Cardile will oversee the architecture, design and build of new race cars.

As well as a revamp of the reporting structures – which includes separate trackside and factory teams for its aerodynamics and engineering and performance departments - performance director Tom McCullough has moved into a new position away from the F1 team.

He will now oversee the expansion of Aston Martin’s broader racing activities.

Speaking about the changes, Cowell said: “I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I've been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team.

“With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team.

“These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I'm incredibly excited about the future."
