Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso will make his The Race Legends Trophy debut this Saturday.

Alonso is following in the footsteps of fellow F1 world champions Jenson Button, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacques Villeneuve and Sebastian Vettel in competing in the Legends Trophy, which is part The Race All-Stars Series powered by ROKiT Phones.

The Spaniard – in the news recently as a potential candidate to replace Daniel Ricciardo in Renault’s F1 roster – will race a blue, red and yellow-liveried Brabham BT44, with prominent branding for his fashion company Kimoa.

Alonso will make his Legends Trophy bow at Dutch Grand Prix venue Zandvoort, which will host the third round of the inaugural five-round Legends championship. The broadcast will begin at 4pm GMT on The Race and its official YouTube channel.

Each Legends Trophy round consists of a qualifying session and two races, with the grid for the second race formed by reversing the qualifying order.

Alonso’s fellow Le Mans 24 Hours winner Emanuele Pirro leads the Legends Trophy standings after the Sepang and Portugal events, albeit Button and World Rally/World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg trail him by just 10 and 18 points respectively.
