The Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team has now formally launched its 2022 car and revealed its real livery.

Alfa Romeo planned its launch for after the first pre-season test in Barcelona, which took place from Wednesday to Friday this week.

The new C42 ran in a camouflage livery, with the actual colour scheme – a significant evolution of the design Alfa Romeo has used since it first became the title sponsor of the Sauber-run team in 2018 – revealed in a formal launch event on Sunday.

Alfa Romeo has a new driver line-up this season with Valtteri Bottas joining from Mercedes and Guanyu Zhou stepping up from Formula 2.

The team sacrificed 2021 season development to focus on building the new car for the all-new technical regulations introduced for 2022 and has big expectations to improve its back-of-the-grid form.

But that got off to a bad start last week with an awful test in which the team encountered multiple issues.

Alfa Romeo completed fewer laps than any team but Haas while Bottas had the lowest count of all the drivers, with the exception of Alfa Romeo reserve Robert Kubica who only managed nine laps on his sole half day of running.

The team has said it identified the cause of its issues and hopes to have a fix in place for the final test in Bahrain on March 10-12.
