Thrustmaster has unveiled a limited edition simracing replica of the 2020 Ferrari Formula 1 steering wheel, which The Race has had the rare opportunity to sample.

Simracers will be able to compete with a replica of the wheel used by 2020 Ferrari F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel last year and our review of hardware giant Thrustmaster’s latest product can be viewed below:

The Formula Wheel Add-On Ferrari SF1000 Edition has a 100% carbon fibre faceplate, textured rubber grip, more than 20 buttons and switches and a 4.3-inch dash with LCD display.

Live telemetry – including up to 69 items of information – can be displayed on the screen, including crucial data like tyre temperature and wear, fuel usage and laptime delta – is available on the dash through what Thrustmaster calls “native integration of the screen in the game” on PC and the PlayStation 4 and 5 models.

Wireless telemetry connectivity is available for Xbox users by configuring the wheel using the Thrustmaster TM Connect Web platform.

The fully-licensed wheel has been designed in cooperation with Ferrari and will be compatible with Thrustmaster’s T series base, and has been initially launched in Europe with just 1000 available units at a suggested retail price of £329.99 (€349.99/$349.99).

It will be launched later in Asia (May 18) and North America (August 26).

There is also the option of buying 100% aluminium ‘T-Chrono’ paddle attachments (£54.99/€59.99/$69.99), which have a bounce time – the time it takes for your input to be replicated virtually – of less than 5 milliseconds.
