The pricing and presenter line-up for the first ever live coverage of the Isle of Man TT was announced this week.
A whole host of talent will headline 40 hours of live action from the iconic circuit through the TT’s new streaming platform – and for a highly competitive flat rate of only £14.99.
That price includes not only full live coverage of practice and racing, but also access to a whole host of extra content, from documentary films, behind the scenes TV series and extra exclusive content, all tied into the one-off annual payment.
The centrepiece of that content will of course be the live coverage of the event, as the TT goes live for the first time ever.
Utilising dozens of cameras around the 37.73 mile circuit and two helicopters overhead, it should make for a completely new viewing experience compared to traditional TV highlights, in which a two and a half hour race was often compressed into only 40 minutes of action.
Coverage will be led by regular duo Matt Roberts and Amy Williams, with former BBC MotoGP presenter Jennie Gow also joining the team.
Commentary will be provided by Dave Moore and Andrew Coley, while past TT winners Steve Plater and Cameron Donald will be on hand as pundits.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve been part of the broadcasting team for the TT,” said Roberts, “however, thanks to the introduction of TT+, I would say it’s the most exciting year, with by far the most potential.
“The important thing for me is that we can come together as a broadcasting team and really immerse the viewers in the action and convey the raw energy and emotion that’s synonymous with the spectacular Isle of Man TT Races.
“I’m confident there’ll be some real edge of your seat moments that will really grip the viewers. The use of heli-cam and curb-side cameras alone are going to drive the experience to a new level, and for motorsport fans around the world that haven’t yet experienced the TT.
“It’s going to blow their minds. It’s a huge prospect and I’m really looking forward to it.”
There’ll also be a revamp on Manx Radio for 2022, with a familiar voice in the form of former MotoGP lead commentator Steve Day following in the footsteps of names like Murray Walker and taking on the role for the first time.
TT coverage won’t move entirely online, however, with post-race highlights remaining on ITV4 as usual.
