MotoGP podcast: The many controversies of the COTA weekend

by Valentin Khorounzhiy
1 min read

The post-Grand Prix of the Americas edition of The Race MotoGP podcast delves into the controversies that dominated the COTA weekend, along with analysing the premier-class race itself.

While the 20-lap MotoGP showdown on Sunday proved relatively serene, it came after a weekend in which the possibility of a race boycott was breached, and also followed a few hours after a massive Moto3 crash that left one rider with a rare two-race ban.

Simon Patterson and Valentin Khorounzhiy join host Toby Moody to discuss the merits of that stewards’ decision, as well as the debate around the state of the Circuit of the Americas’ bumpy surface.

Also in the episode, all three of the MotoGP podium finishers receive their fair share of praise, with the podcast crew delving into the ramifications of Marc Marquez’s second win of 2021.

There’s also a discussion of the latest Joan Mir/Jack Miller flashpoint, Aleix Espargaro’s “nightmare” weekend and the positive outings for Andrea Dovizioso and Enea Bastianini alongside the major disappointments suffered by Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami.
