Ferrari may have followed the same template it had last year with its 2023 Formula 1 car, but it’s describing the SF-23 as being “completely redesigned”.
The proof of this? That’s in major aerodynamic and mechanical changes, according to the team’s head of chassis, Enrico Cardile – who says other modifications Ferrari has made should also increase its set-up options.
It’s too early to say whether that objective has been achieved given Ferrari completed only a short 15km demonstration run with the SF-23 at Fiorano, while new team principal Frederic Vasseur has singled out reliability as the priority for the start of the season.
But given the speed of last year’s car, an improved version of its visually-distinctive concept combined with a reliable and competitive power unit package could be enough to make Ferrari a genuine F1 title contender.
