The dramatic and controversial conclusion of the 1997 Formula 1 title fight is revisited in the latest episode of our Bring Back V10s podcast.

Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher went into the season-ending European Grand Prix at Jerez separated by a point, making the race a winner-take-all battle.

The championship was settled when Schumacher tried and failed to take Villeneuve out as the Williams lunged to pass the Ferrari at the Dry Sack hairpin.

Karun Chandhok and Jonathan Williams join host Glenn Freeman to revisit all the action and controversy from the build up to the event, the bizarre three-way tie in qualifying, how the race played out before and after the collision, and we follow the story all the way through to Schumacher being thrown out of the 1997 standings.

At the same time as Schumacher was punished by the FIA, Williams and McLaren were cleared of race fixing charges, even though they did have an agreement that influenced the outcome of the race.
