Mansell and McLaren never felt like a good fit, and things got off to a disastrous start when it became clear that not only was the MP4/10 car uncompetitive, but the 1992 world champion didn’t fit in it.
Sam Smith and Jack Benyon join host Glenn Freeman to look back at how things unravelled so quickly, with Mansell making two appearances for the team after sitting out the start of the season, then quitting F1 for good when – in McLaren’s eyes – he parked a healthy car at Barcelona.
We also hear from Mark Blundell on getting called up to replace Mansell, including the story of when he was told to park around the back of the McLaren factory, then bumped into Mansell once he was inside!
