Austrian Grand Prix podium finishers Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have all been handed suspended €10,000 fines for a breach of parc ferme instructions relating to physios interacting with their drivers.

Representatives from their respective Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes teams were summoned by the Austrian GP stewards after each driver was attended to by their respective physios while in parc ferme and before they had been weighed.

The FIA said it received a report from the media delegate, “which was subsequently confirmed by video evidence”, stating that the physios had “entered parc ferme without permission and in violation of the procedure that was published prior to the race ‘for the orderly conduct of the event'”.

This breached article 12.1.1 i) of the International Sporting Code, which relates to a failure to “follow the instructions of the relevant officials for the safe and orderly conduct of the event”.

The statements from the stewards announcing the penalty underlined that the procedure was in place in part “to prevent [the] handing over of items to the drivers prior to them being weighed”.

In addition to the suspended fines being awarded, the statements added that “the competitors are warned that the passes of the individuals concerned may be revoked in case of systemic violation”.
