Verstappen beats 100 karters (from the back) in Red Bull event
Max Verstappen came from the back of the grid to beat 100 celebrity karters in Red Bull's highly entertaining Max vs 100 event at Silverstone.
The field of content creators, athletes and fans had been given tuition and practice time and were allowed to take one shortcut during the race. But once Verstappen passed them, they had to instantly drop out of the race.
Despite all the obstacles, Verstappen passed 64 karts on the first lap and was soon into the top 10. The shortcut privilege was withdrawn from Verstappen and the top four were given an extra one to try to delay his progress, but it was to no avail.
The race was due to run for either 30 laps for 75 minutes, but it took only 35 minutes for Verstappen to finally hit the front by passing breakaway top three Jacky Martens, Lewis Osler and Zac Alsop.
"I got lucky in a few places, but that was a lot of fun," said Verstappen.
