Erhan Jajovski moved one step closer to winning the championship, and claiming the €3000 top prize, in the rFactor 2 GT Pro Series powered by VCO as he was the highest points scorer at Indianapolis.

The R8G Esports’ driver is aiming to defend his title as he won the first GT Pro Series season and he entered the penultimate round in the second season as the points leader.

It was the runner-up in season one, Kevin Siggy, who took pole position for the sprint race at Indianapolis with Jajovski in second place.

Siggy led the entirety of the 15-minute long sprint race until he retired with a car engine failure with just three minutes left to go.

That handed the lead of the race over to Joonas Raivio who had passed Jajovski at the start of the race as he held the inside line into the first corner.

On the final lap Jajovski went to pass Raivio with the two racing aggressively from the start of the lap all the way until Turn 10 when Jajovski was finally able to take first place and the race win.

The move meant Jajovski won his fourth consecutive sprint race and scored the full 20 points from the main race.

Fellow R8G Esports’ driver, and championship contender Risto Kappet, crossed the line in third with Jan von der Heyde in fourth and Yuri Kasdorp in fifth to ensure the top five was comprised entirely of R8G Esports and Zansho Simsport drivers.

Second in the standings heading into this round, Hany Alsabti, finished the sprint race in eighth to give himself third on the grid for the main race.

Dennis Jordan started the 45-minute main race from pole position due to finishing the sprint race in 10th, taking his first race win of the season.

A dry to wet race mixed up proceedings further down the order though, with most drivers tackling a damp track while remaining on dry weather tyres.

Williams Esports’ Nikodem Wisniewski was one of eight drivers within 43-points of Jajovski heading into this round, and a big points haul from the main race would have ensured he would still be in championship contention going into the final round.

Ninth in the sprint race became a second place start in the main race, but the rainfall meant Wisniewski was caught up by Kasdorp and had to try and hold his ground.

The damp track caught out the Polish driver as he lost rear-end grip at the exit of Turn 7 to drop from second to eighth, and later span at Turn 2 to fall down to his eventual finishing position of 17th.

Both R8G Esports drivers of Kasdorp and Alsabti rounded off the podium positions behind Jordan, with Lorenzo Arisi ending the race in fourth place.

Jernej Simoncic was 12th in the sprint race but charged up the order crossing the line in fifth from 12th, and it means he still has a mathematical chance to win the championship.

Defending champion Jajovski was sixth in the main race but that, in combination with his sprint race victory, meant he was still the highest points scoring driver at Indianapolis and extends his championship lead.

The Macedonian is 32 points ahead of team-mate Alsabti but has six drivers who could still take the title away from him as a total of 55 points can be scored in a single round.

Alsabti in second place and Jernej Simoncic in sixth are only separated by 11 points, so the order of the top six drivers could still change as they vie for the prize money awards available to the top six championship finishers.

The final round in the GT Pro Series will take place on December 21 as the sim racers will have to tackle Spa-Francorchamps.
